I absolutely love my family! They are awesome and I will be forever grateful for them! On earth, family associations can be the source of some of our greatest joy. Mine most certainly is! Satan is attacking the family on many fronts, and too many families are being destroyed by his efforts. We believe that families are ordained of God. And as such, they have a vital role in our Heavenly Father's plan.
The Book of Mormon contains so many stories about the influence of parents on their children. A Prophet named Nephi stated, "having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father." (1 Nephi 1:1) Nephi was an incredible man who was a vital instrument in the hands of the Lord, many times. Another man named Enos, stated that his father was a just man, who taught him in the 'nurture and admonition of the Lord.' (Enos 1:1) Enos had an incredible trust in the Lord, and did so much good for his people.
Parents, if you think we, your children, don't remember the things you have said to us countless times, consider this example: "And it came to pass that as I was thus racked with torment, while I was harrowed up by the memory of my many sins, behold, I remembered to have heard my father prophesy unto the people concerning the coming of one Jesus Christ, a Son of God, to atone for the sins of the world." (Alma 36:17) Remembering the things his father, Alma, had taught him about Christ, he was able to pull through the dispair he was in. He clung to the words his father had said to him. Parents, we need your counsel and your testimonies. There will be days where we have nowhere else to fall, but on your faith.
Now moms, you have a huge impact too! Consider this example: "Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them." (Alma 56:47)

God has established families to bring happiness to His children, allow them to learn correct principles in a loving atmosphere, and prepare them for eternal life. We are here, together, for a reason. The Gospel of Jesus Christ enables us to understand the roll we have in this divine social unit. Parents truly are a light to the world. At least, to their family. The world needs more parents who will not put their light 'under a bushel, but on a candlestick.' So that it may give 'light unto all that are in the house.' (Matthew 5:15) I love you all. Stay classy.
